It was a great experience for James, Artur and William. They started this year’s National Cadet League as the youngest ever WTTC team, this being their first competitive tournament. The improvement of these youngster was noticeable from the first round back in October 2010 to the last round on 13th March 2011. They are certainly looking forward to next year’s and to new challenges ahead.
Final Round of the National Cadet League
After four rounds which have been played since October, with some outstanding table tennis matches, the Waterside TTC says goodbye to this year’s National Cadet League. Eight teams split into two divisons, 24 players, battled their way to the top spot. Teams from the Waterside TTC, Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Winchester showed good improvement since the first round, with some of the youngster ready to take on new challenges.
At the end of the day, the boys from Bournemouth Portchester team finished in first place in Division 1, with the Bournemouth New Milton team in second place. In Division 2, the girls from the Bourneside team, including Amy from the Waterside TTC, emerged champions, with Bournemouth Merton in second place.
We are waiting that next year more young players can show their skills and how much they have improved. Brilliant matches coming to Waterside TTC, watch this space!
STTA Leagues
Waterside Table Tennis Club has several teams participating in the Southampton Table Tennis Association (STTA) leagues. In total, there are two teams in the Premier League, four teams in Division 1, one in Division 2, four in Division 3 and two teams in Division 4.
League tables and results can be seen at the STTA website.
Cadet League
James, William and Artur are for sure Waterside’s youngest ever team and are playing in the National Cadet League (NCL). They have already played three rounds in the league against teams from Bournemouth Winchester and Portsmouth, who have players a fair bit older than themselves. Although the standards of players in the NCL are quite high, the enthusiasm of the three Waterside musketeers keep them going, and between them they have already won several games. We have to remember that this is an under 15 competition – so they have another four or five years to go. They will be a force for the future, well done lads.
Young Players
The Young Players Tournament is a well attended competition which is organised every month by the Waterside Table Tennis Centre.
The next event will happen on Saturday 26th March, starting at 1.00pm. Please contact John Fox at john@watersidettc.co.uk for a registration form.

Waterside TTC is a club for all! Everybody is welcome, whatever their age and standard. Just come and enjoy a good game of table tennis!
